Complimentary Bookish Tech Backgrounds + Templates for June 2023

quotes from Brandon Sanderson's Warbreaker, fantasy standalone novel, Yellowface by RF Quang, and more. Free bookish digital wallpapers and desktop backgrounds by booksaremythirdplace

Summer is FINALLY here. Of course, I had to include a quote from our June casual buddy read, Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson. I’m honestly so excited to read this standalone with the BAMTP community. Two sisters who are princesses, one forced into an arranged marriage, and there’s color magic?! Yes, please! As always, the buddy reads are read-at-your-own-pace, so if you’ve been wanting to read this, and you want to make some fantasy-loving book friends, come join us!

By the end of June we’ll also officially be halfway through the year, and while I am making progress on my physical TBR, there’s still always too many books to read. So adding a wallpaper for one of the coolest bookish Japanese words seemed perfect: Tsundoku is a Japanese word for the uncomfortable feeling of having too many books to read. All readers feel this way, right?

Also included in this month’s bookish digital backgrounds is a quote from Yellowface by R.F. Quang, which just released last month. I finished it this past weekend, and it’s a doozy. I’m not a big contemporary reader, but I loved her writing in Babel, so had to pick up this satirical take on the publishing industry, and while these were some of the most loathsome characters, I completely binged it.

I hope these colorful additions brighten up your desktop or phone! Enjoy!
