Most Anticipated Fantasy Reads Being Published in 2024 to Add to Your TBR

Maybe your TBR is in desperate need of some great reads this year. Or, if you’re like me, it’s never-ending and sometimes super overwhelming. But there are SO many amazing reads coming out in 2024 that I can’t help but immediately add them to my ‘to be read’ list. If you love fantasy and the occasional sci-fi, you might also want these on your list to read.

House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas

This needs no explanation. Update: I binged it while at our HOFAS House reading retreat.

Full Review is here—yes, I have lots of…thoughts.

Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson

Now I've only read book one in this series so far, but I'm going to finish them all before this one comes out! I cannot wait!

The Fury of the Gods by John Gwynne

One of my favorite epic fantasy authors, and I have been waiting for this third installment in the Bloodsworn saga for AGES. Orka is the most amazing badass FMC. We’ll be reading the first two books in the series for our September 2024 casual buddy read! Come join here—yes, it’s free.

A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal

Vampires?! YES. Faizal seems so beloved by her fans, and I really want to read her We Hunt the Flame duology as well! Apparently if you love Six of Crows, you’ll love this too.

Lore of the Wilds by Analeigh Sbrana

One of the sweetest people, and this is her debut romantasy that’s supposed to be equal parts cozy and dark. I cannot wait to read this!

The Fireborne Blade by Charlotte Bond

Honestly, they had me at dragons…and this cover. Plus, it’s super short, so if you’re looking for a traditional dragon fantasy you can read in one sitting, this might be the one.

The Atlas Complex by Olivie Blake

I HAVE to see how this all ends. Book two was a complete disappointment for me, but I loved book one, so really hoping Blake brings it all home.

The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett

I've been influenced…by a beautiful cover. Also, it’s a mystery?

The City of Stardust by Georgia Summers

Ok, this cover is amazing too, but we're being promised a magical portal fantasy setting, whimsical writing, and a family curse? I can't wait.

A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen

A Viking romantasy from the author who gave us The Bridge Kingdom?! Done.

Champion of Sorrows by Kristen M. Long

You’ve probably seen me talking about this one a lot! You know I'm excited for this Robin Hood retelling to continue with this second installment in the Thief of Sorrows series, and Kristen is a dear friend, so I’ve gotta support my indie authors!

The Eternal Ones by Namina Forna

Again, I gotta see how it ends. Book one was AMAZING. Book two suffered from second book syndrome a bit, so I'm hoping the story is redeemed in this last installment. Ixa forever.

The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo

I will read this book for the excellent vibes it’s been putting out all over social media. Plus, it seems like a perfect slightly spooky read for fall.

There are so many more, but these are definitely high on the priority list. Should we read any of them together in the Discord?! Are there any books I missed that you’re looking forward to reading this year?
