The Third Annual, Ultimate Bookish Prime Day Guide for Book Lovers

Have you tried sifting through the pages and pages and pages of Amazon Prime Day deals for the best bookish finds this year? It can get overwhelming quickly. But you’re in luck! I’ve done all the hard work for you, and curated my third annual list below of all my favorite limited time deals for book lovers for Prime Day 2024. There are beautiful special edition hardcovers with the now ubiquitous, but still sought after ✨sprayed edges✨, insanely good deals on boxed sets of Booktok favorites, epic fantasy and romantasy, plus sci-fi favorites, aesthetic annotation supplies, beautiful bookshelves, and Kindles (Y’all convinced me two years ago to get a Kindle, and I’ve gotta say, no regrets! My Kindle Oasis is a fave when I’m traveling or just don’t want to hold a heavy book up while reading in bed late at night, so I’m super sad they discontinued it). I’ve already taken advantage of some of these bookish savings because they were just that good, and in this economy, we’re all trying to save, amiright? An exception though: while I’ve included the Kindles because they are technically on sale, it’s not the best compared to years past. A few of us on Booktok are hoping they might update it tomorrow, so stay tuned).

If you spy something amazing that should be added to the list, drop it in the comments! I’ll be updaing the list during the 48 hours of Prime Day sales as more come available, so make sure to check back for the latest updates to the list!

Books You’ll Want on Your Shelf:

The Lord of the Rings, special Tolkien illustrated hardcover edition

$90, NOW $31.35 (SAVE 65%)

I am crying over this one. As you saw from the hero image of this post, I already own this gorgeous illustrated special edition with red and white stenciled edges of all three parts of J.R.R Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. And let me tell you, it was not at this price. It’s a STUNNING copy, and even has a fold out map of middle earth.

The Hobbit, special Tolkien illustrated hardcover edition

$75, NOW $32.09 (SAVE 57%)

This is the most recent special edition Tolkien release that matches the above LOTR special edition. As someone who already has this one, it might be my favorite. The green color?! Of course, it has fold out maps as well.

The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson (Hardcover boxed set, books 1-4)

$159.96, NOW $77.36 (SAVE 52%)

Book Five of the Stormlight Archive, Wind and Truth, comes out in November, so if you’re thinking of a reread, or you don’t own these beautiful editions yet, now’s the time! They also have gorgeous endpaper art, and some have reversible dust jackets. And yes, the new book will still match! :)

UPDATE: This Sold Out overnight.

The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman

$18.99, NOW $11.34 (SAVE 40%)

The first in a fantasy series world of goblin wars, this has shot up to the top of my TBR recently.

When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker

$22.00, NOW $15.65 (SAVE 29%)

This is the brand new released trad edition, and it's got the most beautiful pearlescent cover! Be warned, it’s a door stop (aka She’s THICK).

Recursion and Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

$28.99, NOW 11.99 (SAVE 59%) and $18.00, NOW 10.26 (SAVE 43%) respectively

I personally love Recursion more than Dark Matter, but they are both excellent sci-fi reads.

The Silo Series: Wool, Shift, Dust by Hugh Howey (boxed set)

$60, NOW $27.59 (SAVE 54%)

Are you late to the Silo party? I read Wool a number of years ago after meeting Hugh at a conference and being super intrigued by this sci-fi story, which he originally self published. This last year Apple TV+ released Season 1 of an adaptation called Silo, and it 1000% did the book justice. I loved it.

Shades of Magic Trilogy by V.E. Schwab, Boxed Set

$55.97, NOW $20.72 (SAVE 63%)

V.E. Schwab is on my autobuy author list, and don’t we all love a good boxed set?! If you’re a fan of portal fantasies, and multiple dimensions, this is an incredible series to check out if you’re getting into adult fantasy.

Foxglove by Adalyn Grace

$19.99, NOW $8.03 (SAVE 60%)

WHAT?! And it’s a hardcover?! Wisteria, book three comes out later this year.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

$19.00, NOW $9.01 (SAVE 53%)

The Night Circus is one of my favorite books of all time, and has some of the most beautiful prose.

UPDATE: This went down another 3% since day one!

A Dawn of Onyx by Kate Golden

$17.00, NOW $9.71 (SAVE 43%)

I haven’t read this one yet, but the Romantasy girlies seem to love it and it’s got a 4.4 rating, so on the TBR it goes! Plus, absolutely gorgeous cover, right?!

Dark Water Daughter by H.M. Long

$17.99, NOW $13 (SAVE 43%)

I finished this one recently and enjoyed this winter pirate-y adventure fantasy. Book two, Black Tide Son recently came out, and I’m so excited to read it!

Red Rising by Pierce Brown (book one OR the series Box set, minus Lightbringer)

$29.99, NOW $9.50 (SAVE 68%) | Box Set: $65.99, NOW $46.99

Yes, this is for the hardcover. I know. RUN. I recommend this sci-fi series to literally everyone. If you want paperbacks of the series, they have a box set that’s also on sale right now, but does not include the latest installment, Lightbringer, because it’s still in hardback, so keep that in mind.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

$18.00, NOW $7.35 (SAVE 59%)

I read this book in one sitting when it came out. Perfect for readers just getting into sci-fi. Bonus points if you love gaming and the 80s. The sequel kinda sucked, but this one is amazing.

The History of Middle-earth Box set

$125.00, NOW $59.41 (SAVE 52%)

What is this insanely good price?! I already have this set, and let me tell you, it is STUNNING. It also has reversible dust jackets with the original first edition design on it. I’m obsessed with John Howe’s illustrations, plus fold out maps, and if you’re a Tolkien fan, these are honestly a must for your collection.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, illustrated by Marjolein Bastin

$45.00, NOW $24.12 (SAVE 46%)

These Andrews McMeel editions are some of my favorites for classics. Not only do they have absolutely stunning illustrations throughout, but they also have INSERTS! So think like, a dance card, or an invitation, or wisk game instructions, character family trees, and more.

Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, illustrated by Marjolein Bastin

$45.00, NOW $24.21 (SAVE 46%)

Like I mentioned above, these special editions are so beautiful, and I’m obsessed with the inserts. Here’s a look inside this one.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

$20.00, NOW $11.18 (SAVE 44%)

I LOVED The Martian by Weir, so I know I’m going to absolutely love this read. If sci-fi is your jam, and you haven’t read any of his books, now’s the time to pick them up!

A Song of Ice and Fire series aka Game of Thrones (Paperback boxed set)

$98.00, NOW $54.77 (SAVE 44%)

I think this is heavily on sale because the new covers are coming out soon, so they’re trying to clear inventory, but this is a super great deal. They also have the mass market paperbacks on sale too, but if you’re not a fan of those and want the OG covers before they change them, grab them while you can.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab, special edition

$29.99, NOW $13.03 (SAVE 57%)

This special edition of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue includes six new pieces of artwork, a ribbon bookmark, and an embossed hardcover.

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

$19.99, NOW $12.91 (SAVE 35%)

Like The Night Circus, The Ten Thousand Doors of January is one of those beautifully written books that just sticks with you long after you’ve finished reading. P.S. It’s a portal fantasy.

Bookshelves + Home Decor

Why are bookshelves so expensive?! As my home library continues to expand, I’m always in the market for another bookshelf. Can you relate? haha Definitely waiting until days like Prime Day to snag a new bookshelf leaves more budget for…more books, of course!

Metal Library Cart

$485.00, NOW $331.49 (SAVE 32%)

Definitely a splurge item. This is one of those bookish nostalgic items that’s on every serious book collector’s home library bucket list. The perfect TBR cart.

$194.99, NOW $135.09 (SAVE 31%)

Give me all the shades of beige, ok?! Look, I went through my IKEA bookshelf phase too, which is totally fine, and honestly kind of a right of passage as a bookworm. But if you’re looking for something slightly more substantial, this might be the one. I love the beveling on the top too!

$181.99, NOW $144.49 (SAVE 21%), PLUS a coupon on the page for another $25 OFF

If the industrial look, this five-tier bookshelf is the one for you. I have a white version from a different brand (currently sold out or I would have included it!), and it fits so well in my loft with a bit of a vintage vibe as well.

$115.00, NOW $96.96 (SAVE 16%)

Every home needs a home library ladder, and this five-step foldable one is my current obsession. It’s sleek and modern, but the gold gives it a little bit of luxe too, right? There’s also a darker gun metal black version.

$9.99, NOW $7.99 (SAVE 20%)

The fact this figurine is categorized under bookish decor without any mention of SJM actually makes me cackle. If you want The Suriel for your bookshelf, grab it now.

$39.99, NOW $31.99 (SAVE 20%)

I’ve always wanted a cool neon sign, but I feel like they’re so hard to find at a reasonable price. This one’s pretty cute.

$29.99, NOW $23.99 (SAVE 20%)

I don’t need this. I don’t need this. I don’t need this. Why is this the cutest little dragon ever?! I need it.

Bookish Accessories

Wooden Book Lamp

$24.69, NOW $18.07 (SAVE 27%)

Does this scream 2020 booktok? Maybe. But I STILL love my book light. It’s rechargeable and changes colors when you reopen it. No regrets.

Rifle Paper Stitched Notebook set

$22.00, NOW $13.99 (SAVE 36%)

Perfect for a little reading journal, these are part of Prime Day lightning deals, so not sure how long they’ll be around, but they’re SO cute!

Clear Kindle Case

$19.99, NOW $7.89 (SAVE 61%)

Is it trendy? Yes. But it’s trendy for a reason. I LOVE my clear kindle case, and I can switch out stickers to make it more personal and fun.

Burn After Writing Celestial Journal

$14.00, NOW $5.97 (SAVE 57%)

If the stars are your vibes, this is your next journal.

Kindle Page Turner

24.99, NOW $19.99 (SAVE 20%)

Now I’m not saying we’re getting lazy, buuuuuut, this is kind of magical if you’re reading in bed and you want to keep your hands cozy under the covers.

Green Leaf Weighted Blanket (That’s definitely not at all like Tolkien’s leaves of Lothlorien…) 👀

43.99, NOW $54.99 (SAVE 20%), Plus an additional 5% off clip coupon

Ok, it’s not officially bookish…but it’s reminded me of LOTR the instant I saw it. And yes, I can confirm it is 100% worth it. I’m obsessed with mine. It’s the perfect lap blanket when you’re reading.

Reading Devices + Memberships/Subscriptions

Audible Membership

Get an Audible membership FREE for three months, then $14.95/month for one book credit + Plus library access. Only during Prime Day sale.

$44.85, NOW $0 (SAVE 100% for three months)

I’ve had an Audible membership last three years, and I honestly love it. While I normally grab audiobooks from my local library via Libby or these other apps, there have been several times with new releases where they aren’t available yet, or have a super long wait list, or their an Audible exclusive, so it’s nice to be able to jump into audible and start listening. Plus, some Romantasy authors like Danielle L. Jensen actually publish their novels on Audible first and they’re included in the Audible library (with the hardcopies being released six months after the audiobook)!

Kindle

$99.99, NOW $84.99 (SAVE 15%)

Kindle Paperwhite

$149.99, NOW $134.99 (SAVE 10%)

Kindle Scribe

$369.99, NOW $259.99 (SAVE 30%)

I was a holdout on getting a Kindle for YEARS, but a couple Prime Days ago, I decided to snag an Oasis, and I’ve been beyond happy with it! I’m personally a sucker for the buttons, so I’m kinda heartbroken they’ve discontinued it. I figured it was basically the same as reading on the Kindle app on my iPhone, but it’s so much easier on your eyes. I personally feel like the scribe is a little big to be carting around, so I’d absolutely recommend the Paperwhite, which is also water resistent, or the regular Kindle unless you don’t have an iPad. If you’ve been thinking about getting a Kindle, TODAY is the day. They’re all on sale, plus they come with three months free Kindle Unlimited (that’s $30 back in our pockets), and a $5 Kindle coupon. I mean…it’s hard to pass up. And now that travel is back on the table, I do like the idea of being able to bring my kindle instead of an entire suitcase of books (yes, I am guilty of doing this many times over). If you’ve been waiting to upgrade, you can get an additional 20% off by trading in your old device.

Happy Prime Day shopping, book lovers! I’ll add any new finds I come across and update the article over the next 24 hours, so make sure to add to the list here and on my Storefront!

P.S. If you end up getting a copy of any items through an Amazon affiliate link above, you’ll be helping me support this site and newsletter. Thanks in advance for supporting a fellow bookworm! BTW, I will always disclose affiliate links when they’re present. :) Happy reading!
