10 Upcoming Fantasy Reads You Should Definitely Add to Your TBR this Fall:
Fall weather gives us all cozy vibes: a warm oversized sweater, a delicious drink (what’s your drink of choice? Can we bring back that TikTok trend?!), and of course, some of the best fantasy reads. Let me just tell you, we are eating WELL this fall. SO many anticipated reads to look forward to. Some on this list are already out, and a few we have to look forward to over the next couple months. P.S. The list is in publication order and does not include December since that’ll be the Winter list to look forward to. Enjoy!
Fall of Ruin and Wrath by JLA
September 12th
I've mostly given up on reading more JLA books, but since it's a new series, I'm going to give her one last chance. This one's apparently spicy, so it might be too much for me, but I know some of you are little spice hunters, so you’ll probably love it.
A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid
September 19th
Everyone on Booktok who got an ARC of this has been raving about how great it is. I candidly didn't love The Wolf and the Woodsmen, but I'm willing to try this one out since so many people I trust loved it. P.S. It’s was the Illumicrate book for September and the edition is gorgeous!
The Fragile Threads of Power by V.E. Schwab
September 26th
At this point V.E. Schwab is an automatic read for me. Not everything she writes is five stars, but when it is, IT IS.
Starling House by Alix E. Harrow
October 3rd
I mentioned last week how excited I am to read this one. If Harrow wrote a to-do list, I'd read it. A perfect fall read, since it’s supposedly a little spooky too.
The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon
October 3rd
The reviews are starting to roll in for this one, and I don’t think I’ve seen a bad one yet! A fantasy sci-fi mix, and it’s also going to be in one of the book subscription boxes for October!
Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare
October 10th
I haven't read anything by Clare in almost a decade. You too?
Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig
October 19th
I just finished book one, One Dark Window (you can check my review here if you missed it), but that cliffhanger…I need this book right now. Gothic fairytales here we come!
What the River Knows by Isabel Ibañez
October 31st
19th-century Buenos Aires? Egypt? Fantasy? Magic? Say less. If you like historical fiction mixed with fantasy, this might also be your vibe!
Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
November 7th
We're all foaming at the mouth waiting for this sequel to our fave dragon riding romance. Counting down the days. And yes, there will DEFINITELY be another casual buddy read in the Discord to look forward to!
The Darkness Before Them by Matthew Ward
November 7th
“The first in an exciting, action-packed new trilogy from epic fantasy author Matthew Ward, The Darkness Before Them introduces readers to a world ruled by a dangerous immortal king, where souls fuel magic, and a supernatural mist known as the Veil threatens to engulf the land.” Yeah, I can get down with this.
